Our first date was on the 1st February, 2019, at Shoreditch House (you'll already know that Richard has a membership, because he tells literally everyone). We chatted the night away until 2am, racking up quite an eyewatering bar tab. It was Harriet's first date of Flirty February, a month in which her and her friends were supposed to date as many people as possible. Richard obviously ruined this plan, and the rest is history.

A lot of our dates seemed to revolve around alcohol and food, but for every fancy date at Shoreditch House, there was a date at Five Guys.

On the first of many visits to Rich's beloved Cornwall, Harriet decided she preferred surfing wine bars to surfing sand bars.

But Rich knew he wanted to marry Harriet when she took him to a Mayfair restaurant for Christmas and let him order a cheese toastie.

Together we survived got through the pandemic and the lockdowns, despite only having known each other for a year, making a home together in Bermondsey. And we didn't even lose our minds in lockdown.

Alright maybe a little bit.

Harriet shared her love of hiking with Richard in Scotland. He enjoyed it as much as she loves surfing. On this holiday they also stayed in a haunted castle and were terrorised for two evenings by the ghost of a small child. Rich found this more enjoyable than the hiking.

Hearing that variety is the spice of life, Rich switched things up next time it was his turn to pick a holiday destination, eschewing famous British surfing destination, Cornwall, for famous British surfing destination, Devon. "At least he doesn't play golf," says Harriet to her friends. "There's still time," says Richard.

In a huge twist that nobody saw coming, Rich proposed to Harriet in Cornwall. Diplomatically describing Harriet as being "quite particular about things", he decided against buying a ring for the proposal, and instead used a memento from one of their early dates together at their favourite cocktail and jazz bar - Oriole. With the sun setting over Chapel Porth beach (famous surf spot), they enjoyed a picnic and enjoyed the beautiful Cornwall scenery, which is just so beautiful that it really makes you want to move there, doesn't it Harriet? Right? No? Ok then.

After a failed Flirty February, a pandemic, several house moves, eventually buying a flat together, new jobs, new tattoos and new hairstyles - everything comes full circle in the end. We'll always find the photobooth. Get your poses ready, because there will definitely be one at our wedding.
